Star Wheel Press and Second Hand Marching Band for the latest album club package

We are delighted to announce two exclusive releases for the new Avalanche album club package. First up is the album that more than any this year has come from nowhere to be a huge seller in the shop. When Ryan Hannigan phoned to say Lauren Laverne had played a track off the album but they didn’t have any on sale little did we suspect just how good an album it would turn out to be. Quickly spotted by Ian Rankin who called it “gorgeous, hazy, quirky Americana” more celebrity fans followed in Daniel Kitson and Sean Hughes. Soon it was doing a  “Savings and Loan” and selling whenever we played it. Asked to play at the Grassmarket Festival it then even more amazingly turned out that it would be only their second gig. Live they didn’t let us down and it really can only be a matter of time before they reach a much wider audience. Ryan is also a respected artist with his own gallery in Aberfeldy and the album club version comes with a limited edition postcard.

I’d somehow always managed to miss seeing the Second Hand Marching Band live but had liked what I had heard on the Chaffinch sampler given away as part of the first album club package of the year. Spoken very highly of amongst their peers again they played the Grassmarket Festival to rave reviews. This is a collection of their two deleted EPs along with demos and radio sessions and is a great introduction to the band.
