One of the few consolations from having a quiet weekend because of Home Game is that we had time to get the noticeboard up positioned above the vinyl. Only another 96 jobs to go !

Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat album out today is the new album club choice
With two album club releases due in quick succession the first is the stunning (don’t retweet that Aidan) new album from Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat “Everything’s Getting Older”. As I’ve already mentioned there has been a fantastic response to the album being played in the shop and it is great to finally have it […]
Twilight Rabbit competition
And the winner was Anna Miettinen from Porvoo in Finland which Wikipedia tells me is the home town of Sami Hyypia the ex-Liverpool and Finland captain. We should hopefully have more interesting Frightened Rabbit news later in the week.
Sebastian Dangerfield
I always say to bands not to name themselves after a character in a book or film as when they are searched for the character and not the band will come up. Such is the power of Myspace that a band’s Myspace page will appear near the top these day but still the advice holds. […]
Music Blog Seminar + Getting Your Music Heard
Surprised to hear there are still some places left for tomorrow. Obviously blogs are nowhere near as important as shops but even so this is a great opportunity to meet people who can help. I have already handed over a bag full of CDs handed in for our RSD “getting your music heard” campaign to […]
Second Hand Marching Band
As if having them play at the Grasmarket Festival wasn’t enough we now have the Second Hand Marching Band compendium for the ridiculously low price of £3.99. We also have the EP from Where We Lay Our Heads featuring members of SHMB for £2.99. Jenny Soep’s exhibition has been so popular we have extended it […]
How he wrote Elastic Man
After reappearing at the beginning and end of the day yesterday Mark E. Smith (some say lookalike) appeared again today for the These Fading Polaroids set and later for the Edinburgh School for the Deaf. He then disappeared for the rest of the day. However just as I reached the other end of the Grassmarket […]
Ballboy and The Last Battle @ Grassmarket Festival
Couldn’t get away until 6pm so caught a little of The Last Battle who sounded great as usual. Managed to see all of Ballboy’s set which opened with some hen party dancing and then was spoilt/enhanced by Mark E. Smith / a Mark E. Smith lookalike dancing at the front for the rest of the […]
Grassmarket Festival – stewards
Without wanting to jinx things the weather is looking good. Possibly a little rain early morning but then nothing but sunshine for the three days. OK I’ve definitely jinxed it. Anyway a bumper attendance is expected so a few more stewards wouldn’t go amiss. Half or full days. Simple stuff like finding lost children, telling […]
Avalanche Grassmarket Music Festival sponsored by Red Dog with quite a lot of help from the Academy of Music & Sound
Friday 29th April to Sunday 1st May. Obviously a little bit over long so we’ll be calling it the Grassmarket Music Festival ! With Avalanche sending the begging emails (all the bands are very kindly playing for free), Red Dog providing the equipment and the Academy filling in any gaps and providing even more expertise […]
