Avalanche Album Club

The Avalanche Album club is now in its second year and has already established a great pedigree in its choices. In its first year there were releases from Broken Records, Meursault, Flowers of Hell, Saint Jude’s Infirmary, Withered Hand. There Will Be Fireworks, Burnt Island, Pearly Gate Music, Kid Canaveral, Endor, Kays Lavelle, Trips and Falls, The Last Battle and The Savings and Loan. Several came with bonus EPs from the bands while others included unreleased material from Scars and samplers from TV21 and Zoey Van Goey. Label samplers from Fat Cat and Song by Toad were also included. There was also a free members gig where several of the bands played at the Caves.

This year the choices so far have included the Conquering Animal Sound album, a Chaffinch label sampler, the Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat album with a signed card along with an album from Christopher Eatough, a Sub Pop sampler and a 17 Seconds label sampler. The third instalment has just been announced to be the Star Wheel Press album with an exclusive postcard together with the Second Hand Marching Band Compendium. Averaging £10 a month over the year it has to be the best value album club you can find made possible by the fact that we don’t look to make a profit from it but instead use it to promote artists and albums we think deserve a wider audience. Many of the bands have indeed gone onto bigger things and it seems strange now to think that initially we sold more Withered Hand albums than the rest of the UK put together ! Our next choice is already made and again will look to take a well respected and critically acclaimed artist to a new audience.
