Avalanche in-stores

Unfortunately it seems people just aren’t interested in coming along to see many of the bands we have playing in the shop so we will have to sadly greatly reduce the number of in-stores we do. While the in-stores by Kid Canaveral, Rachel Sermanni / Withered Hand and Frightened Rabbit were huge successes  a fair few have attracted nobody at all despite publicity from other bands and help from the media. I’ve been saying we either get nobody or at least 50 and the Martin John Henry in-store slightly contradicted that with a dozen or so folk but really for somebody like Martin known to many as having been the singer with De Rosa there should have been a decent crowd. Playing with a full band he really was very good indeed.

That somebody from Mexico (currently in Edinburgh) made a big effort to come along actually sums things up really. Hopefully we can get some bigger bands in and since Roy Wilkinson was  in-store for the British Sea Power book launch (again only a success because his many friends in Edinburgh came along) he has asked the band if they will reprise the in-store they did at Avalanche early in their career when they are in Edinburgh later this month. I’ve yet to hear back but it would be good to have them in the shop again. Their in-store was the first instance I came across when they had no sooner played than somebody had put it online and fans were able to listen to it.

For those interested their set was

1. Out Of My Mind On Dope And Speed
2. Strange Communication
3. Carrion
4. Moley & Me
5. Fakir
