One band at a time please

After being in on Sunday for the in-stores from Rachel Sermanni and Withered Hand I’ve been working at home today and in between various dull tasks have been checking out a backlog of bands recommended to me/mentioned on the radio/read about. It quickly became clear that the majority of these bands were actually offshoots or “supergroups” from other bands.

The reason is obvious. Once you are in one band and have developed some contacts it is far easier to get attention for any other project/band you are involved in.  I’m already aware that many of the “new” bands I come across aren’t that new at all and are either revamped versions of other bands or another attempt at stardom from an individual whose first attempt didn’t work out.

So here’s an idea. One person one band. That way more people get a chance. Just a thought.
